The weather has been really hot but beautiful lately! We've had a blast frequenting the pool and traveling quite a bit lately. This month we were blessed to be a part of our good friend Brian & Krissie's baby Eddie's baptism, make a trip to Chicago to visit our good friend Paul and head up to Kenosha for a much needed trip to see Barb, Tom & Sara. Most recently we went to Crooked Lake to visit with the Voors family and stayed over at Elizabeth & Jeremiah's - Charley had a blast playing with the boys and Elizabeth (Aunt Zebey) had fun cuddling with Wilson.

We've also had a quite a bit of visitors this month, including Aunt Zebey, Sage, our cousin Dan, and Emily & Olivia. We love having visitors & catching up.

Wilson is on the verge of rolling over, and boy does he get frustrated that he can get about 3/4 of the way but not completely! He also had his first taste of solids yesterday - our baby loves carrots! Charley informed me that Wilson certainly would not like carrots; however I explained to Charley that not all children have a strict diet of peanut butter & jelly! I've had fun getting out the Magic Bullet again and whipping up baby food - it's really great and relaxing - there's something about crushing things into millions of pieces!

It's taken about 3 months I think, but I'm REALLY enjoying staying at home with the boys! We've gotten into a great routine and are having a wonderful time together. Mitch is busy with work and is itching for football season to begin. Christmas came early when it was announced that the Colts training camp has moved to Anderson! Mitch has also been nuts around the house, painting the deck, fence and picnic table. He's also laid a ton of mulch and is really doing some wonderful improvements. I would like a ceiling fan in the living room now for more added light, but I'm afraid he won't look at anything inside the house while the weather continues to be beautiful.

Wowza, we had a full weekend! Wilson had some unexpected trips to the doctor with some eye gunk; however by Saturday morning he was fully recouperated. Join me on this photo summary of our weekend....

My Student Affairs Administration Master's program is complete! Our director of the program Dr. Wessel hosted a brunch Saturday morning....

THEN....later in on Saturday, my parents and Gramama visited to celebrate the completion of my degree. We had a really great visit - check out the SIZE of those steaks....grill em boys!

My Gramama spent a lot of time holding Wilson and playing with Charley. Later that evening when asked what his favorite part of the day was, Charley said "zooming cars on the floor with Gramama" - that was my favorite part too, Charley!

Sunday morning Charley had a music program during service at his preschool. He wasn't too interested in participating in singing; however he stayed on stage and behaved rather well, so FOUR STARS BUDDY! (Charley is on bottom row - look for the little boy more concerned with the buttons on his shirt than the actual program).

Today we noticed our neighbors playing in a giant mud puddle - we decided very quickly that Charley needed to join in the fun! He had an absolute blast!

We had quite a full weekend and loved every minute! Hope the rain continues a bit more so our newly seeded grass can grow, grow, grow - however, not too terribly long so we can go to the park this week and enjoy the sunshine.

One Month Old

Mr. Wilson is one month old today - although it's been a LONG month filled with lots of emotions and challenges, it's hard to believe our little guy joined the world a month ago!

I know that I need to post some new photos - trust me, I will do this soon. We went to Riley yesterday for his follow-up echocardiogram. Luckily there seems to be no coarctation (narrowing of the artery) - insert random dancing and screams of joy here. The cardiologist noticed two other things that she wanted to keep an eye on and recommended a follow-up echo next month. We will consult with our pediatrician more tomorrow morning, but more than likely we will have the echo at Riley again. Wilson's left ventricle is larger than his right and although this can be normal for a variety of reasons he doesn't possess any of the reasons for the enlargement. The other concern is that the speed of blood flow in one area of the aorta is faster than they would like.

Other than that things are going well. Only 20 DAYS LEFT UNTIL MY MASTER'S CLASS IS COMPLETE (Insert MORE jumping, hooting and hollering here!). Mitch is keeping busy with work and looking forward to the BSU Summer hours to begin shortly. Charley is loving staying at home; however he severely misses his buddy Reed and we've managed to see him almost every day this week.

Home Sweet Home

The Isaacs family is all under one roof! Wilson was released from the NICU late Friday evening. We are so pleased to have everyone at home. It has been strange not driving to the hospital every morning, but it's a great change! Because of his faint heart murmur they performed an echocardiogram prior to his release; unfortunately a questionable coartation appeared (possible narrowing of the arteries which affects blood flow to his legs). This week we will be heading to Riley to have a follow-up echocardiogram performed; however we're hopeful that the test reveals our little monkey is healthy and no follow-up appointments will be needed.

All in all we're excited to be home, a little apprehensive about the Riley visit but taking one day at a time. Mommy & Daddy are taking turns sleeping however Charley is having no trouble sleeping at all!

I'm not generally supersticious; however with this situation I'm cautious to report just yet. Yesterday the doctor gave us good news that Wilson could possibly be released Saturday. Generally parents of NICU babies are asked to participate in "homeward bound," which involves the parents and baby staying in a hospital room a night or two before the baby's release to ensure the baby is thriving and the parents are prepared for taking care of their child. In Wilson's case they need him to be fed round the clock for two full days to be sure he is maintaining/gaining weight. Well because the labor/delivery area is ridiculously full I'm doing a "pseudo homeward bound" where I'm staying in the NICU round the clock for the two days. Last night was the first night and Wilson did great! His feeding tube has been removed and they would like him to eat about 46 cc's per feeding - well last night he ate 70-75 cc's each feeding! Personally I think it's because I showed him a photo of Brian & Krissie's new baby Eddie and he realized the need to kick it into high gear to catch up with his 8+ lb. self! Whatever the reason Wilson did great!
We're not going to tell Charley that Wilson could possibly come home until it's official - I'm afraid the little boy won't sleep a wink with excitement!

2 Weeks

We've been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from friends, family and acquaintances for our family. We're happy to report that there isn't a lot to report! Wilson continues to gain weight (today is at 4 lb. 15 oz. - almost 5 lb. way to go buddy!) and they continue to wait for his strength to allow him to eat more consistently. At this point Wilson is nursed throughout the day and whatever he doesn't "transfer" through he is then fed through more milk through his NG tube (which takes much less energy for him). Throughout the night Wilson gets bottles of milk and has been doing very well with these feedings.

Charley is ready for his little brother to come home! Of course, he may change his mind once Wilson is actually home. All of Charley's grandparents came for visits last weekend and it was nice catching up. Any time Mitch & I can get to the hospital together has been really great, and we've been blessed enough to have people watch Charley for a bit so we can do two baths for Wilson together. Daddy is getting stretched pretty far this week with going back to work, having a speaker on campus, spending time with us at home and trying to get to the hospital to see Wilson.

We've been trying to get the house all ready and around for Wilson's trip home. No word yet on the exact time frame of his release from the NICU, but we're remaining hopeful. Although we don't want Wilson to come home before he's ready his nursing is extremely inconsistent - I've threatened pulling out the "mom" voice already!

**Congrats to our good friends Brian & Krissie - new parents to James Edward Tomlinson yesterday. Mommy & Baby are healthy and doing great. We're very happy for them and cannot wait to meet Eddie!

Daddy Visits Wilson

I'm back at home and Daddy got to visit Wilson again yesterday. We were able to give Wilson a bath and they got the opportunity to have some much needed snuggle time. Charley & Mommy played together a lot last night and he's been understandably clingy. Needless to say we're ecstatic to be at home together....now we just need to get Mr. Wilson home!

Monday Mitch returns to work and Charley will go back to Miss Caroline's (babysitter's). I will continue spending my days with Wilson and we will work on bringing a little more normalcy to our daily routine.

One Week Old

Wilson is one week old today. He weighs 4 lb. 5 oz. and no longer has an IV. His "tongue-tied" was corrected (snipped) yesterday and Mr. Wilson can now successfully stick out his tongue. Today was a fun day of cuddling; however he's not transferring as much milk as we would like, which is likely due to his small mouth and prematurity. They continue to lower his temperature in his incubator to prepare him to no longer need the added heat. My favorite time is when he's wrapped like a burrito and yawns really big with a hint of a smile.

Only a few more days until I get to go home with my boys. Although it's been really tough for them to stay in the house I'm so pleased that Mitch hasn't gotten sick and he will be able to see Wilson again on Thursday!

Wilson had a good day today. The doctor informed me today that he can get rid of his IV anytime! HOORAY! Basically once it looks red and irritated or if it accidentally gets pulled then they won't need to put it back. At this point we're waiting for the little man to consistently tolerate nursing and gain more weight. It will be great not to have to deal with the IV in the very near future. We have received some super adorable preemie and newborn outfits from people and I will be sure to post some photos very soon.

Mitch & Charley made a grocery list for Mommy today, to which I chuckled since it consisted of only the definite essentials: Frozen pizza, nuts, bread, breakfast food and gatorade.
Charley's health is improving; however he still has a nasty cough.

The video attached shows Wilson with his eyes open - Daddy said he looks like a pirate....but what a cute pirate he is!

What a Beautiful Day!

I've found 3 excuses to go out to the car today mainly so I can enjoy a glimpse of this beautiful weather! 42 degrees and sunny - I'll take it! Mitch has spent the afternoon trying to keep himself busy by cleaning/organizing the garage and Charley reported to me this morning on the phone that he was "almost feeling all better." Wilson was tested for RSV today and the test results were negative - what a relief! There are never any guarantees since the incubation time can be anywhere from 2-8 days; however with 5 days in we feel pretty good about the results. Wilson's feeding has been increased to 25 cc's and he no longer needs the TPN (extra protein & electrolytes). His jaundice levels have leveled off so no more Zorro mask for Mr. Wilson.

Weighing in at 4 lbs. 2.3 oz., Mr. Wilson Isaacs is doing great! He is nursing like a champion and has been loving cuddle time with Mommy. I took a video today; however I'm not sure how easy it is to see since the blue light is a bit distracting. In this video Wilson is showing off his Zorro mask - which he yanks off fairly regularly.

As Charley would say, things have been a little "tricky" lately; however we're working through it all. Charley was diagnosed with RSV last night which forces Mitch to be at home with him and quarantined away from me for 8 days! Ugh. I'm being released from the hospital today and Wilson has been moved to NICU isolation just in case he was exposed from Charley. Luckily I still get to see Wilson, so feeding schedules will remain. Whew, this has been quite the whirlwind, but Charley better be glad he's cute because he's been quite the problem! :)

Wilson remains to develop well. He's quite the trooper. The nurses noticed today that he is "tongue tied" so they will keep an eye to see if any further procedure to fix it should be done.

Needless to say the next 8 days will be extremely difficult not to have any contact with my two boys at home, but we know this is what is best. Hopefully our family will be all under one roof within the next few weeks (Charley has to be without a cough, Wilson has to be 4 1/2 lbs and cleared to be "wireless" from the NICU and Mommy & Daddy cannot come down with what Charley has).

Wilson Robert Isaacs, born 5:31 a.m., 4lbs. March 1, 2010

We're still feeling like it's quite a whirlwind that little Wilson joined the world this morning. Everything happened quite quickly, as I woke up at 3a.m. with strong full-blown contractions 3 minutes apart. Wilson Robert Isaacs didn't even wait for our doctor to get into the delivery room, so we had an amazing nurse Stephanie get an opportunity to deliver him at 5:30a.m. Due to low blood sugar, a heart murmur and being 4 lbs he was admitted to the NICU. Luckily we got a little bit of snuggle time just after delivery so Charley was briefly able to meet his little brother. At this point we're unsure how long to expect Wilson's hospital stay to last, but the doctor's are anticipating about 3 weeks. I think we'll have more info as the next couple of days progress. Once I get home and have the ability to upload my camera photos we will be sure to post lots of photos.

Thanks for all the well wishes - we are all doing great and feel very blessed!

Charley LOVES the Dentist!

Oh, I could just kick myself for forgetting my camera this morning! I blame it on the dog…YES, I can do that! I set the camera on the table, plugged the battery into the wall and then Sampson started making that terribly awful noise of urgency that he was going to get sick all over my floor. I bolted to the back door (while hitting my knee on the butcher block and then again on the kitchen table…this I blame on my sheer clumsiness!). I unlocked the back door only for Sampson to throw up just before running outside. Thank you very much. Needless to say the preggers in me had a very difficult time consulting with my gag reflex and cleaning up the mess. This all set us behind to head to Charley’s first visit with the DENTIST!

This visit has been planned for the last six months. We’ve read plenty of books about going to the dentist and the importance of brushing twice a day. We have made every effort to make sure Charley was excited about the dentist visit but at the same time didn’t expect to have a grand old time as if he were heading to King’s Island! Our dental office had initially recommended Charley sit on Mommy’s lap during a cleaning so he could see what happens and how fun it can be.

Upon arrival Charley checked himself in by politely telling the receptionist his name, he then helped Mommy fill out paperwork and quietly played with some toys while we waited. Miss Jill then called us back and Charley grabbed his bag of toys and rushed to her side. He followed Miss Jill to the exam room, to which he plopped himself in the chair and proudly stated “OKAY, I’M READY!” So much for Charley needing to be prepped and watching Mommy! Charley's generally a well behaved little boy, but I couldn't believe how well he did during the entire cleaning!

Although I attribute the positive dentist trip to Miss Jill being such an incredible hygienist and wonderful with him, Mommy was extremely proud of our little Charley! He was such a little man following instructions and being quite the trooper while she cleaned his teeth. He even got his first x-rays taken, which was quite impressive since he had to stand in a space shuttle looking machine, bite a certain way on a stick, rest his chin just so and stay very still. Way to go Charley & Miss Jill for getting some perfectly clear x-rays! The trip ended with a brand new toothbrush & lots of stickers.

(Side note: Mommy did just fine during her cleaning as well; however when I chose "mint" for my flavor of flouride our new little dental expert Charley recommended and insisted I try the Strawberry).

I will not forget my camera next time!

Charley Goes to Sibling Class

Welcome to Mitch’s First Ever Blog Post.

Yeah, I wrote this.

Consider yourself warned.

So Charley had sibling class tonight. The class is designed to help 3 – 7 year olds learn about their new baby brother or sister. It was also designed to remind fathers of just how hard this baby stuff is. If “edutainment” is the mixture of education and entertainment then I would call this “edu-your life is going to completely change but let’s have fun talking about it-tainment”.

We were one of the last couples to arrive, so when we walked in the moms were sitting in chairs while the dads were on the floor with their children. The nurse pleasantly greeted us, asked us to spell Charley’s name, and then gave him a misspelled name tag. Charley is illiterate - so no harm, no foul.

Charley and I took our place on the floor while the nurse introduced him to the other children – two other little boys, and then two little girls who arrived a few minutes later. Charley was the youngest and cutest kid there. I was the least awkward looking father. At this point we were 2 for 2.

The class started with pictures of a baby in various phases – in the womb (when it looks like a shrimp cocktail), in the womb again (slightly resembling a human), right after the birth (looking like this guy), and a few months later (when the baby is modeling for Gerber). The nurse went on to explain amniotic fluid and the umbilical cord to a group of children under 10. Yeah, seriously. The kids thought it was cool in a “WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!????” kind of way.

Next he practiced holding and swaddling a semi-realistic but also really creepy doll. The nurse described the process as making a “baby burrito”. I wanted to ask if the baby burrito came with baby cinnamon twists, and baby nachos.

He then watched “Sibling Silly”. It starred a “silly professor” dressed in a curly hair piece, a white lab coat, coke-bottled glasses, and a big orange bow tie. He actually WAS very silly, and probably very disappointed in the direction his acting career had gone.

The Sibling Silly video didn’t really teach Charley how to be silly. In fact, they really should have titled the movie “Sibling Learns How to Adjust to Major Life Change Without Completely Freaking Out”. He learned how to hold a baby, how to talk to a baby, how to play with a baby, and how a baby eats. The video had some clips of breastfeeding, which I thought he handled pretty well. I caught him looking at Beck’s boobs once or twice after that – I don’t think he knows how to feel about them now. I remember having the same experience the first time I saw the breastfeeding video.

After the video was over Charley made a birthday card for the baby. Charley’s card included several Ninja Turtle stickers, and some wonderful drawings. It was fun watching the kids make their cards, not only was it cute but I got a sense of early cave drawings – a lot of scribbles on the walls and floor.

Overall, it was a good evening and the best part…..it ended with Frostys!!!

Apparently our son enjoys household names, since it’s all been quite consistent (cup, cheese, house, floor, etc.). We can only hope the next little boy is as funny as Charley – our household is sure to be filled with laughter for years to come.

For the record.....THERE IS ONLY ONE BABY! We've had the doctor check multiple times!

**HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY ISAAC****MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!***

The Isaacs household has had quite the active couple of weeks! The Colts made it to the Superbowl (however we still are not quite talking about the final game in our home just yet - I give it a couple more months!). Also, my mom and Fran spent last weekend at our house making a baby quilt - it turned out beautifully! I cannot wait to get it all completed and post some photos. Charley has been busy playing in the mounds of snow and keeping himself busy being his hilarious self. Sunday he looked at me and said, "Mommy, I need to show the baby something." He lifted my shirt over my belly, made a silly face and began laughing. I said, "ooh, the baby really loved that, I bet he thought that was pretty funny!" Charley agreed.

Recently the biggest struggle has been my inability to get a full night sleep. For the past 2 weeks it hasn't mattered what time I go to bed, but inevitably I wake up to use the restroom and my body tells me that I'm awake for the day. This has caused a lot of stress on my body and complete frustration and exhaustion. My blood pressure was ridiculously high last week and I ended up having to be monitored at the hospital to be sure I don't have any signs of pre-eclampsia...which I passed with flying colors. My blood pressure has since calmed down and the doctor prescribed Ambien to help with sleeping. The first two nights the Ambien did absolutely nothing and I still only got 3 hours of sleep per night - UGH! But......last night was GLORIOUS!!!!!! Went to bed at 11:00p.m. and......wait for it.....wait for it........WOKE UP AT 6:30a.m. - THE BELLS WERE RINGING!!!!! Oh how lovely I feel! No headaches, no grogginess, just a great feeling of restfulness! Thank you doctor and THANK YOU AMBIEN! *I should note that poor Mitch came to bed around midnight, said I was snoring and he didn't want to bother me so he slept on the couch. Thanks honey!*

Our Month-Long Recap

Needless to say I am very disappointed in myself that it’s been over a month since our last post! We’ve been swamped with fun activities, traveling, working, schooling and just spending time getting baby things

together. Charley has become quite the big brother helper and was pretty excited to buy the baby a toy the other night that he will be able to give to him upon his arrival.

Mitch is in high gear with planning his on-campus speakers for the Spring Semester. Charley is growing up way too quickly and is quite the imaginative little boy. Currently he enjoys a good sword fighting with Daddy, watching Transformers and baking with Mommy. He’s always ready to help – we’re hoping that skill becomes transferrable when the baby arrives!

The curtains have been sewn and hung, the crib is together and the things are pretty much together – although we are not anticipating this baby’s arrival for 2+ months, his room is ready! We continue to stand firm that we will not reveal any choice of baby name until we take a good look at him and make the final decision.

I’m finishing up my last graduate class and attempting to not stress about the details of it all. I only begin to worry when I think of all the timing, so instead we’ve maintained a high level of denial that the baby’s arrival is scheduled for the beginning of April and my class ends in May. DETAILS!! J

This baby moves a lot and has kept a steady weekly heartbeat between 140-150. We have been blessed with an amazing nurse (Lori) who makes her weekly injection visits to the house warm, friendly and fun. We love that she is a labor & delivery nurse at our hospital and hopeful she’ll be working when delivery time comes. So far there have been no major complications or difficulties at this time – but this baby is certainly growing! Next appointment is next week – it’s hard to believe we’re reaching the 30 week point!

Also, please continue to keep our friends Kate & Lyn’s little girl Greta in your thoughts and prayers. Greta is a 16-month ray of sunshine who has been hospitalized since mid-December. She continues to gain strength and make great strides. Her mommies are pretty incredible women who we hold close to our hearts and wish their entire family continued strength. www.gretabaier.blogspot.com

It's A........

The baby was moving all around yesterday for the ultrasound so we didn’t get too many great pictures; however the one that we did get was to find out that we’re having a……..BOY!

Another little boy! HOORAY!!!! Charley is quite excited to have a little brother, Daddy is excited to think of all the money we’re going to save (we’ll just let him think that!), and Mommy is thrilled to have another sweet little boy to snuggle.

Heartbeat was 158 and all body parts looked healthy and strong. The baby currently weighs just under 2 lbs. Next appointment (4 weeks) will be the glucose test. I’m feeling pretty great; however I’ve really started feeling pregnant. My belly seems to stick out further and further each day and it takes more effort to get out of bed in the morning and to put my shoes on. I think I’m going to have to spring for a maternity winter coat even though I was hoping to make my regular one work – the air gets pretty cold when you can’t button your coat!

I Cannot believe Christmas is next week! So much to do, so little time. This Christmas season has been an absolute joy with Charley – he sat on Santa’s lap last weekend and was thrilled!

Happy week before Christmas to you all – I’m off to figure out how to decorate the baby’s nursery – YAY!!!!

Mommy: “Charley would you like to name the baby, or should Mommy & Daddy name the baby?”

Charley: “I would like to name the baby”

“Oh really? Okay, what would you like to name the baby?”

Charley: “Hungry Hungry Hippo”

So it’s been decided. Hungry Hungry Hippo is gender neutral and quite unique. I think we’ll just go with “H-cubed”, it’s shorter and easier to say.

Is the 2nd Pregnancy Any Different?

One of the most common questions I have been getting - "Is this pregnancy the same or different than your first?" So last night I began wondering this very question and decided to list some of the similarities and differences I have noticed recently.

Similarities:

1. Heartburn

2. Sleeplessness (occasional)

3. Lack of Energy, BURSTS of Energy, then Lack of Energy. Repeat.

4. Pretty nails – my Grandma Voors would be very proud of the strength & length of my fingernails – gosh, if I could only take time for a manicure! It’s sad to report that my toenails on the other hand are a completely different story and in a very SAD state.

5. The feeling of excitement and anticipation. I love touching my belly and talking to the baby. I get very excited when I think about what this baby will look like, their personality, color of eyes and overall demeanor.

6. Using a Body Pillow. This is my bestest friend of all time – oh body pillow how I love you and you help me get comfortable.

Differences:

1. Nausea – I had quite the spat with feeling sick to my stomach for all of the 1^st trimester, and still on occasion throughout the 2^nd.

2. Charley – it’s pretty neat to have a little guy to share in the moments of pregnancy. Charley will be the first to comment that Mommy’s belly is getting bigger (FYI: this is okay for a 3 year year old, and so not okay for anyone else to acknowledge my weight gain!)

3. Anxiety – I’m more cautious with this baby and worry more about twinges, cramps and odd feelings. Understandably I worry in the hopes that this baby stays cooped up for about 2 months longer than Mr. Charles.

4. Baby movement – I remember Charley moving and kicking around, but this baby seems to be VERY active and is practicing to be an acrobat! I can pretty much pin point the times that the baby will be moving and shaking around. I look forward to those daily connections with the baby.

5. Weekly ear shots of the baby – As a part of the weekly injections I get the opportunity to hear the baby’s heartbeat – it has stayed around 140-150 for the last 4 weeks.

6. Need more Input! Honestly we didn’t spend much (if any) time reading pregnancy books with Charley. This time I at least have some books on my night stand and have been trying to read a bit before bed each night. I’m definitely reading up on Ezzo’s “Baby Wise” because that was AMAZING for Charley sleeping through the night at 3 months, so let’s cross our fingers for the 2^nd!

7. No Photos Please oh Please! I have no desire to take ongoing photos of my oh-so-growing belly (and chin) this time around. Oh how I wish I did, but since it didn't start out as flat as it did the first go-around, I think we'll just leave that all to the imagination.

I may have to add to this list because I’m sure there are many more things to consider.

*Question of the Day:

Why are there no pockets in my maternity dress pants? Where exactly am I supposed to put my chapstick? C’mon people, this is ridiculous! While I’m on the topic if you haven’t yet milled around a maternity clothing section just take a gander at the COST for a pair of pants or just one top! I recognize that I’m cheap and so I’m a tad jaded on what items should cost, but I find it absurd to pay $40 for a pair of jeans you only get to wear for about 6 months!

October Review

October was quite a busy month for our family and flew right by! Charley made a final decision to dress as a Monkey for Halloween. He celebrated his 3^rd birthday in Transformers style and loved every minute. Charley has started voicing his opinion more and more and really coming into his identity. Although very stubborn and willful he remains to be polite. For example, last week he had his 3 year wellness check…here was the conversation between he and his pediatrician.

Dr. Burt: “Hey Charley, why don’t you freak your Mommy & Daddy out some time and each some vegetables?”

Charley: “No thank you.”

Enough said.

Mitch has been very busy with his job, organizing a lot of wonderful speakers on campus and juggling the many duties of his job. He has been busy working on projects around the house and it seems like when something is finished we always come up with something new!

I had a doctor’s appointment last week where I was VERY disappointed to learn that I would have to wait for TWO MORE APPOINTMENTS until our next ultrasound. I had a conversation with our doctor letting her know that I am a planner and in desperate to know the gender of this baby – she didn’t really care, go figure! So, mid-December it will be to find out if we’re looking at saving lots of cash by reusing Charley’s things or if Mommy gets to go shopping for crazy pink necessities! This baby is much more active than I ever remember Charley being and I love it! Every evening when we take time to relax the baby starts to dance around in celebration of the calmness. Mitch has been able to only feel slight movement, so I look forward to the next month or two when he’ll be able to really feel movement. My weekly injections are going well and the nurse comes to our house to administer it which is really convenient. I have lots of energy so I’m taking full advantage of feeling great.

On October 25^th our Grandad Quigley passed. This past weekend we were blessed to celebrate Grandad’s life through an incredible mass and reception. Although the times have been difficult for our family I was reminded of the strength and togetherness we all can bring to one another. Gramama & Grandad celebrated 58 wonderful years in marriage and I can only be so lucky to leave the legacy that he has left this world.

Happy November – let’s hope this month flies by so I can get to December and find out the gender of this baby already!

Decisions for a three year old are quite important. The newest decision has been the Halloween costume conversation. Below are the costume decisions Charley has requested to date.

Let Us Introduce Our Little One in the Oven!

We are pleased to officially announce our little one in the oven is growing strong and doing really well. Had the 13 week appointment and the heartbeat was strong (161) and everything measured great. To date Charley has named the baby 3 separate times. First off, in Charley’s eyes the baby has always been a girl and her name was first Cup, then Cheese and now it remains to be Floor. I wasn’t too concerned about this because we figured he simply doesn’t correlate the idea of names – that is, until he got a new baby frog and named her Lily. Wait, the baby’s name is FLOOR but your FROG’s name is LILY????? Great.

This baby seems to have started challenging us from the first moment, which is why making it to the second trimester is quite the joyous occasion. Our next appointment will be in 4 weeks, but the weekly injections will begin in 2 weeks. The injections are supposed to aide in the prevention of a second early arrival. We’re hoping this little one has challenged us enough at the beginning and the rest of the pregnancy will be smooth sailing. Official due date is April 5, 2010.

We hope to continue the tradition of blogging about the Isaacs Family Journey. Bear with us as we will attempt have some consistency with the postings as our lives remain crazy working full-time, spending as much time as possible with Charley, Becky taking 2 classes in the hopes to finish up her degree (AGD May 2010 – no comments necessary, we’ve already thought of them!), and doing work around the house.

Easter 2009

We had a really nice Easter. We spent most of the day with Mitch's parents and granparents. You just can't go wrong with good company, good food and chocolate! In the morning Charley sported a really cute white polo (thanks Elizabeth) until Mommy got desperate at church and caved in to bribing him with M&M's - goodbye nice white shirt! Before we headed out of town we changed his shirt and although the outfit was cute Mommy was sad to see the adorable matching arguile socks go. Nonetheless the driver's cap still matched and Charley was a little stud for his third Easter. Charley got to hunt for Easter eggs - he was on a mission and no one was getting in his way! Even when his basket was full it didn't stop him!

Elmo Craze

Last night we took Charley to see Elmo Live at the Murat. I've never seen him so completely focused on one thing for two hours! He really enjoyed the show and was pretty excited to see Elmo. We were all thrilled to see Charley's reaction to the show - it was clear he enjoyed himself. This morning he told me his favorite part of the show was Elmo...of course.

We're just revving up to start the initial phase of potty training - easing into it and trying not to push too hard. Charley loves his potty chart and loves more that when he fills it up he gets a trip to Chuck E Cheese! He's been quite the ham over the last couple weeks. We've had a lot of visitors recently and have loved every minute.

Colds Colds Go Away!

Cross your fingers, I think we’re finally over all illnesses that have plagued our home for the last few weeks. Mitch had the flu for a few days and Charley unexpectedly developed pneumonia.

Spent last weekend celebrating Isaac’s 5th birthday and enjoying time at Aunt ZB’s (what Charley calls Elizabeth) house. This week is filled with more down time in regards to nightly commitments; however we’re easily filling our time with homework, cleaning the house and spending time with Charles. I know, I know, anyone who reads this blog is really just looking for photos of an adorable 2 year-old; I will try soon, I promise. I have some good ones of Charley’s first sledding experience with Grandma that I’ll be sure to post soon.

SNOW DAY!

Our area got anywhere from 9-12 inches of snow last night. I cannot remember a time I've ever shoveled such a large amount of snow! Needless to say we were unable to successfully get the car out to take Charley to the babysitter's; therefore.... SNOW DAY! Charley & Mommy made brownies to thank Mr. Tom for helping dig her car out of the alley this morning and the rest of the day was spent playing outside, shoveling, playing Hi Ho Cherri-O and just enjoying time together.

Mitch was with his Grandma last night and today and we're sad to report she has passed. We were blessed to have her in our lives and she will surely be angel looking down upon us.

I've got work to do! I LOVE SNOW!

We've had an eventful 2009 thus far. Last week I managed to slip on the ice and land on my head - a trip to the ER and a massive headache later all is okay. We've also visited friends and family and also had some friends visit us as well. Charley is cozying up to his new big boy bed, Mitch has been revitalizing his love for books and I have started my Spring load of classes. The Isaacs household is in full swing and it's sure to be a great year!

My Baby's Not a Baby Anymore!

Charley officially slept in a big-boy bed last night! WHAT?! He's certainly not old enough to do this! He proved this thinking wrong last weekend at Grandma & Grandpa Isaacs' house when he did a summersault into the pack n play and then Mr. acrobat was able to lift himself out of the pack n play as well. Ugh. Overall the first night in his bed went quite well (only about 12 trips from Daddy putting him back in bed - 15 minutes total and he was out like a light - success!).

Getting ready for Christmas - pretty excited to spend time with family & friends. Be safe traveling, I hear there is ice waiting for me on the roads after work today - blah.

It’s been awhile since our last post. Busy times here in the Isaacs household, with a visit to Milwaukee for Thanksgiving, finishing classes for the semester and getting ready for Christmas. Had our family photos taken (Thanks Dad!) a couple weeks ago and although Charley wasn’t in the best of mood (to say the least) Dad performed his magic and made it look flawless.

I’m especially grateful for the absolute joy Charley brings to our lives and how his smile literally makes my heart swell. My morning was made today when he got out of bed and ran across the room into my arms yelling “MAMA!” – can’t get much better than that! Yesterday morning he woke before me and crawled into bed, grabbed my cheeks, kissed my lips and whispered “Hi Mom.” Makes me wish he could stay this age forever. Of course two minutes later he’s whining and crying because he’s been told he cannot watch tv – go figure!

We continue to keep everyone in our thoughts and prayers, especially our friends and family, who due to the economy have recently lost their jobs or fear it’s in the near future.

Frequent Flyer ER Card

The Emergency Room should possibly consider offering coupons to frequent visitors – Charley may be one of the first on the list! Saturday morning Mr. Charles was trying to be bigger than he really is and scooted the large wooden step stool across the kitchen floor. I heard the scooting and knew that he was more than likely attempting to scoot it to the living room, where he could attempt to reach the DVD player on the top of the bookshelf, to more than likely try to sneak an Elmo DVD. The ridge between the kitchen the dining room is too high for him so as he lifted the stool and I turned the corner to see the end result the large step stool came crashing on his big toe! Ouch! Lots of tears and blood later, Charley lost his big toenail and got a couple of stitches Saturday morning. He’s sporting a large gauze wrap but is adjusting quite well. I’m hoping to take some photos this week so you can see how incredibly cute (and still fearless) he is with his injury.

Please keep Mitch’s mom in your thoughts and prayers as there was an accident with the pressure cooker blowing up – first and second degree burns, but thankfully she continues to recover quickly.

I just realized my last post was to report Charley’s fall on concrete – maybe I should post more often so it doesn’t seem as if I only post his injuries. This kid is absolutely fearless! I've attempted to link a video (below) of his newest technique of jumping off the ottoman into the chair. He’s giving me grey hair already!

Labor Day Woes

Mr. Charley had a bit of a spill Labor Day weekend. Poor little guy lost his balance on our front concrete steps and fell directly on his face! He screamed for a bit until I mentioned Elmo and he stopped mid-cry, and clear as day said "Elmo? Yeah, yeah" - that was the indication that he would be fine. No broken bones in his face and it's healing nicely. The photos are from my phone and not that clear; however they're all I have for now.

Why has week seemed like it's been dragging forever? Oh well, it's almost Friday (okay, I've been saying that since Tuesday!) and I'll take it. Charley cut a molar on Sunday/Monday so he was quite the little bear. Sampson is finally getting fixed tomorrow, so hopefully he'll have less of a tendency to bolt out the front door - that's at least what our vet comforted us with. My grandparents are visiting this weekend to see the new house, so it will be great ot visit with them. Charley's babysitter took him to the county fair this week and he was pretty excited to see all the animals and win a new bouncy blue ball!

Charley Updates:
22 Months: Charley has begun the "terrible two's" early - he continues to keep us on our toes and challenge us. His favorite word is Elmo and No - what a great combination! He and Sampson are the best of buddies and they're really great with one another. Charley still isn't the biggest eater and he's picky unless it comes to sweets, to which he'll eat anything with sugar! He has started to act shy around people. He now sleeps with a pillow in his crib and I found part of the crib side jammed down a bit last night, so I'm wondering if the little monkey has attempted to crawl out - I know this day is quickly approaching.

Parade Time or Bust!

Headed up north this weekend for the Cromwell Days parade. We worked on a great Future Olympians float; however the rain decided to take over and the parade was cancelled. The boys were bummed, but swimming at Grandma & Grandpa's made them feel better I think. We went to the talent show to root on my cousins who did a GREAT job singing, ate at the yummy fish fry afterwards and then we stopped off to let the boys jump in the big jumparoo. Hope everyone had as much fun this weekend as we did. Of course we missed Mitch, but he had a wonderful and much needed break with Brian T. in Columbus.

Weekend Fun - WALLPAPER!!!!

Our plea to you: PLEASE, I BEG you, next time you feel like wallpapering something....DON'T!!!!

We tackled a what seemed somewhat simple task of painting Charley's bedroom this weekend. Ugh! I wish I had a photo, but I'll upload it when the task is complete. Long story short we began to prepare the painted walls and realized that they had previously been wallpapered - and then painted over!!!! Ugh. Needless to say removing the wallpaper and adhesive was a major job and at 11:30p.m. we finished preparing the walls. Tonight we paint....finally! This kid better REALLY like this when it's done! So if you come visit our house make sure to pay extra close attention to the wonderfully painted walls in Charley's room....just humor us, it will make us feel better.

Charley was not bothered by the frustrating wallpaper fiasco, but rather had a grand weekend of playing with Sampson and swinging! Happy Monday!

July 2008 Update

As I've been reminded, it's been quite awhile since the last post, so here's the update.

Here has been our life for the last few weeks.....

1. We bought a house......and LOVE it!.........

2. Last week Charley fell at the store, briefly lost consciousness and was taken to the ER....we knew he was fine since he walked into the ER with a chicken nugget in hand - this stinker has challenged us from day one!

3. We rescued a dog from ARF. His name is Sampson and he's very sweet!

We've certainly been keeping busy! Is it Friday yet????

Little Monster

My two favorite recent Charley stories....

We were at a children's toy store and Charley was running around getting into everything. I playfully said "you little monster, where did you go?" and he started laughing and showed his cute little face around the corner. At the same time a little girl (I would guess around 7 or so) looked at me and whispered with absolute concern in her voice, "is his name really Monster?" - I swear to you I wanted to fall on the floor laughing so hard! Love it!
Charley stayed home with Daddy on Friday due to a belly ache. Apparently he was watching Sesame Street and when Cookie Monster appeared on the screen Charley got a big smile on his face, pointed to the screen and clearly said "Ma-Ma!" - yes, I'm very proud to know my child associates a big, blue, hairy monster with his mommy. Nice, very nice.

Charley's Out of the Hospital

Although Charley took his first steps on Thanksgiving he's been a chicken ever since and hasn't been "ready" to take any more steps on his own (unless he takes some on accident or thinks no one is watching of course!). But yesterday was the big day - Charley walked down our hallway turned into his room and walked to his crib! He did it like he had been walking for years! Our lives as we knew them are completely over now! Our once baby has officially turned into a little man and jets it all over the place. Unreal.

We're all doing really great and couldn't be more ready for the weekend.

Charley's First Haircut

We've recently returned from all of our holiday travels. Our visits with family and friends was brief but absolutely wonderful. This past weekend we were at Pokagon where Mitch got to experience his first time on a tobogan. Charley was very social and wore himself out by playing non-stop.

Today Charley visited the hair salon for his first haircut. I have to admit I was concerned he was possibly going to panic and not cooperate, but to my surprise Charley was a trooper. The hairstylist was very patient and nice and did a great job. Charley looks like such a little man!

It's hard to believe that in just a couple days we will begin a new year - 2008! Wow! Wishing you and your family a safe and happy new year.

Let It Snow!

Charley got the opportunity to experience his first big snow last weekend! He loved it until he took his glove off and his hand got too cold - then he simply screamed his head off until we took him inside. Santa visited the baby group today so Charley and his good buddy Liam secretly whispered their wishes to Santa while their mommy's took photos.

Can't believe Christmas is a week away - ahhhh!!!! Happy Holidays.

We had a great Thanksgiving with family on the day of and the day after. We put up our Christmas tree and surprisingly enough Charley hasn’t touched it yet! Charley took his first two steps on Thanksgiving Day! Since then he has decided that walking didn’t suit him and he absolutely refuses to do it again; in due time. Charley now has six teeth and insists on feeding himself, which makes for interesting meal times. I’ve in my fourth week back to work and things are going quite well. Charley seems to be transitioning well and loves going to his babysitter’s. Their little boy Reed has more toys than Toys R Us and two wonderful and gentle dogs, so Charley’s in heaven! Since Reed is a few months younger the boys haven’t begun playing and interacting too much, but I’m sure in the next few months they’ll become pretty good buddies.

We’re excited for Christmas this year with Charley and look forward to playing in the snow. Happy holidays!

Can't Believe Charley is ONE!

Okay, okay, I know, it's been quite sometime since the last post, but it's been a busy time. Let's see, a quick recap....Mitch was voted and crowned BSU Faculty/Staff Homecoming King, so we had all sorts of fun Homecoming activities. Also, Charley turned one last week and we had a fun time celebrating. He also attended a Halloween party with his buddy Liam. I returned to work this week and although it has been sad leaving Charley for the day it's been quite the smooth transition for Charley. We found a great full-time babysitter who has a little boy who is eight months old, so Charley will have a playmate. Our full-time babysitter can't start for another week and a half, so we've had some friends filling in, which has been a blessing. Enjoy the updated photos! Hope to keep up on this blog more often.

All Good News!

Went to what we would find out to be our last trip to Riley yesterday! We couldn't have been more pleased with the visit. Charley had gained over 2 lbs. and grew over an inch in the last month! Since he's done so well Charley's doctor didn't seem to think he needs to come back! What a relief! It's extremely comforting to know that Charley is a perfectly healthy little boy.

He will be starting whole milk soon and we're introducing sippy cups although he thinks they're just fun toys!

Off to watch the BSU mud volleyball tournaments today. I'm sure photos will be posted of Charley playing in the mud.

So I forgot to replenish our snacks in the diaper bag during our errands and we had a spontaneous trip to Starbucks with a friend. The only Charley friendly snacks at Starbucks were chocolate covered graham crackers. Needless to say he adored every bite! Too bad along with the snacks, Mommy forgot wipes too! Charley had a blast!

*Sidenote - for those of you interested or in need of this information, Starbucks nationwide do not have highchairs/booster seats available for customers. Strange and frustrating for families with wiggly worm children who don't stay in one place too long.

10 Months!

Charley recently turned 10 months - it's hard to believe, right?! Charley's newest development is waving goodbye. He also recognizes the word No, although he chooses not to listen majority of the time. He continues to perfect pulling himself up on anything possible, and his favorite toys are anything he's not supposed to play with - predictable. He loves to crinkle his nose and makes a snorting noise while smiling - one of those things that's adorable now, but we'll probably wish we didn't let everyone encourage it later on - oh well.

Went to Charley's pediatrician appointment yesterday and as Charley was scooting and exploring all over his office the doctor chuckled and said "this one is going to keep you on your toes!" He's certainly right - this kid is on the move!

Riley Update

Went for our second trip to Riley yesterday. Charley had a video feeding study done to check on his reflux and the study indicated no major issues that they could see. We met with his doctor who was pleased with his weight gain and said if he continues on the path he's on he should be on the charts within a month or so. Charley will be going back to Riley at the end of September to make sure he is gaining weight and also check to make sure he is growing in length.

Yesterday morning he pulled himself up to the standing position for the first time!

Busy week for BSU - students moving in all over the place. Tip for anyone in Muncie, don't go to Wal-Mart, it's busy busy busy! Take care.

15.1 lbs. AND New Tooth!

It's been quite a week for Charley who weighed in yesterday at 15 lb. 1 oz., a gain of 9 ounces! His first upper tooth broke through yesterday, which I discovered while flipping him upside down and realizing there was something in his mouth! Then this morning there are TWO more teeth on the verge of breaking through! I guess it's true that things really do happen in three's! When those come through Charley will have 5 teeth total!

Last weekend Charley got to experience the Colts training camp for the first time. Although it was a little hot for Charley and Mommy, Daddy and our friend Rich had a blast! First preseason game with Dallas is tomorrow night - Go Colts!

This week Charley adores TAGS, anything with tags! He's also beginning to cry when he doesn't get something he wants - how great to finally be that Mom who gets to experience the baby screaming at the check out lane because I won't do what the baby wants! Here it all comes!!!!

Hottest day of the year today, I think we'll go swimming.

I've been meaning to give an update on Charley's weight; however, our computer has been down. Last Tuesday Charley was weighed and he GAINED 1 1/2 POUNDS!!!! In one week gaining that much was HUGE! That's our big news for the week - apparently he's really enjoying this high fat diet. He'll be weighed again Tuesday and hopefully he'll gain again. If he continues to gain like this, Riley docs say that Charley will still have to be monitored but all tests will be cancelled - hooray! Good news, very good news.

Riley Update

Today was the big visit to Riley! I know many of you have been wondering, praying and waiting to hear what the doctors said about your Charley, so I wanted to be sure to post an update as quickly as possible. We met with the Doctor for two hours and she was extremely thorough with questions, concerns and checking out Charley. The long of the short of it is that since Charley is doing somewhat okay with his height but absolutely off the charts on his weight, she's hoping it's a nutritional issue rather than hormonal. That being said, she's not 100 percent, but hopeful. Charley has been put on a high fat diet, so bring on the butter! For the next two weeks he will be eating foods rich in fat & higher calories and we will be supplementing three of his meals with fortified specialty formula. Her goal is for Charley to gain an ounce per day. We will we return to Riley in about two weeks to see how he is doing. If he's not where she wants him to be, the really intensive tests come out, because as she said she really hopes this is the issue because other than the weight issue he's a perfectly heathly little boy so they'd have to do some major digging to figure out the cause of his lack of growing.

It's Been SO Long!

My word, it's been almost a month since my last post! I'm afraid that's probably how it will be going from now on, but we'll see.

Okay, so let's just get this out of the way. We planned on not posting this on the blog so people would not worry, but then I get in trouble for not keeping people updated, so here it goes. About 8 weeks ago our pediatrician, Dr. Burt ran some blood tests to rule out any issues with Charley since he hadn't grown (height/weight), but everything came back completely normal, so he said that he'll probably just be a little guy for a bit and will eventually shoot up and catch up with everyone. We asked when to worry and he said "when I tell you to." Enough said. Well then two weeks ago we went for a scheduled weight check and Charley hadn't gotten longer or heavier in six weeks, so Dr. Burt said since he seems to have in a way stopped growing, he'd like us to go to Riley to see some specialists. Although we're concerned, we're trying to not be overly worried until someone tells us that we need to be. We go next Wednesday. I'll be sure to let everyone know what happens and what we find out. Other than that, he's really great! We went to his NICU follow-up clinic and he's above average on everything developmentally (except height/weight of course). However, yesterday he was weighed and he has gained 1/4 lb. in the last two weeks. Doesn't seem like a whole bunch I know, but it's great news for us since he at least didn't lose any weight and actually showed an increase! Maybe he's just getting a running start and is going to take off soon!

Okay, as for the good stuff - we spent July 4th holiday with Mitch's family in Richmond. It was really great to see everyone and Aunt Tammy, Angela, Hannah & Ashley flew in from Florida. A big group of the family wen to King's Island on the 4th, and to my surprise it wasn't very crowded. We all had a really great time.

Charley milestone updates: Will give high fives (thanks to Mr. Matt teaching him!), Sits up on his own, said "Mama" once, but I'll take it!, recognizes his name much more, and eats snacks

We are definitely keeping busy and loving the summer. We try to walk every day. Okay, someone just woke from his nap.

Charley's First Solids

Charley was recently weighed and had lost a little bit of weight - ugh! His Pediatrician decided we should try some solids (rice cereal a couple of times a day and veggies every 3 days or so). We started with some rice cereal last night and Charley absolutely wanted nothing to do with it! We quickly realized that since he's been given some applesauce and tastes of other good things previously the bland cereal probably didn't taste so great! So out came the sweet potatoes and Charley's first official solids food meal was rice cereal and sweet potatoes. He absolutely loved it and scarfed it down! Of course I think we'll need a big tarp to put down, under and above him to protect everyone involved.

We are quickly settling into our new apartment and all of our new found space. Pictures to come soon, but it's so great for Charley to have his own space and before long will be crawling all over and causing mischief (of course we're still working on scooting at this point, so let's not rush it!)

Charley's two little front bottom teethers broke through today! He's been such a trooper! Hopefully he'll let me get a photo soon that I can post but at this point he's not a big fan of me trying to show them off to people - imagine that!

Today we went walking with a couple other mommies and their little ones, had a play date this afternoon and tonight we played our hearts out! What a day! Charley is now sleeping, I'm relaxing and Mitch is at a meeting. Things here are good.

New Model Arises!

So I recently found a new model to promote my BUBS - he's kinda cute, right?!

So far this week has been great - went on an hour and half walk yesterday and today is library day and play date day! Whew, I tell you what, Charley's schedule fills up faster than ours! Trying to give Charley more tummy time so he gets more used to it because he absolutely loves his baby Einstein exersaucer but isn't a huge fan of the floor, so we need to work on it! He's been babbling up a storm and finds himself absolutely amazing if he looks in a mirror.

Love the summer because Mitch has shorter hours (for now) and we're slowly beginning to pack up our belongings. Charley's napping, so I'm off to get a few things done. Have a great day and hope you get to enjoy the sun!

Our Little Giant!

Charley's doctor's appointment was Monday. He weighed in just under 12 lbs.. Although he has gotten longer and his head circumference is on target, the little bugger seems to not be gaining weight! Dr. Burt wanted to rule out some things so he ordered some blood tests, to which Charley was a trooper and his Mommy was the complete opposite! Tests results all came back normal, so it seems our little guy will simply be little for awhile.

Charley has been incredibly happy this week and (I whisper while saying it as to not jinx myself) has slept VERY well during the night! A round of drinks for all!

Anyhow, if you're so inclined feel free to check out my newest project - BUBS "Back-Up Blankies" - the idea is that it's always a good idea to buy 2 (or more!) blankies for your little one because in the event one gets lost or it accidentally gets left at Grandma's you can have an extra. The worst is buying a blankie and then later attempting to find a duplicate when your previous one has been lost and the little one won't go to sleep without it! That's where BUBS come in - with these you get 2 duplicate handmade security blankies.

Happy 6 Months!

Spent the last couple of days hanging out with Charley's cousins Isaac & Braden and boy did we have fun! Charley has hit the big 6 month mark and is just starting to scoot on his belly - before we know it our baby will be mobile! He's constantly talking up a storm and if we could understand him I'm positive it's all remarkable words of wisdom. Charley's favorite toys are is toes and anything that makes noise or lights up. This kid cracks us up on a daily basis! Have a great day.

For those of you who check this blog regularly, I apologize for the recent lack of entries. Our computer unexpectedly took a turn for the worse and fried!!!! No, we didn't have anything backed up, but thanks for rubbing it in! :)

Our computer is currently in Intensive Care and were crossing our fingers that it can be revived. So the long of the short of it is that we haven't had easy computer access so I haven' t made the time to post. What a week, but it's FRIDAY and absolutely gorgeous weather! We've had quite the exciting day already and it's only 1:30! This morning Charley went to his first play date and then we joined Mitch for lunch and a stroll around campus while he ran errands. Charley's currently napping and we're planning on heading out for a second walk later this afternoon - gotta get them in now because who knows what this Indiana weather will do next!

We had a great Easter! On Saturday Charley and I headed to Ft. Wayne to visit the Voors clan and on Sunday we hosted dinner and Mitch's parents and Christina joined us. I love ham leftovers!

Today Charley weighed in just under 12 1/2 lbs. - makes me much happier to see him gain weight, because last week he lost a bit! Today Charley was smilier than ever, so had to take a few photos (see above). Recently I've begun dabbling in digital scrapbooking and have really been enjoying learning Photoshop.

What a week! Charley boy rolled over, he now weighs 12 lbs. 3 oz. and he laughs! Whew, he's been busy! I'm happy to report that I got his first complete roll (from back to tummy) on video. Yes, I was on of "those" parents who had the video camera ready to go for the exact moment! He worked really hard on rolling over! He had no problem rolling to his side and then just couldn't seem to make it all the way over, so he stayed on his side for about two minutes....then he made it to his belly, smiled really big and then rolled right back over.

Just wanted to share the proud Mommy moment. Off to bed for me.

Laugh It Out!

Charley first laughed while sitting on the lap of his Godfather Brian. Since then he has laughed with Mitch and me and I can't wait for it to be a really common and daily occurrence. This past weekend we traveled to Chicago for a friend's wedding and had a nice trip. On our way back we stopped at my parents house and spent a little time hanging out and playing poker. Lots of walks and playtime outside this week - hard to believe it's going to be 80 today! I predict Mr. Charley will roll over very soon.

Our First Family Vacation

We just returned from a really great week in Florida. We went with Mitch's parents and visited family in Jacksonville. This was Charley's first vacation and he did really great traveling! We were a little nervous about flying, but he surprised us all and did really well. We got the chance to meet the two new little one's that were born around the same time as Charley, spend time with the family and do a little sight seeing.

Tonight we've made the big leap for Charley man to sleep in his crib (Angela, aren't you proud of me????) I suppose it's time, but it doesn't make it any easier to let my little baby sleep in his own room. For the past week he has slept through the night, so things just keep progressing and changing too fast! Before we know it he's going to be talking and walking and graduating college! Okay, maybe not college yet, but all I know is time is going too fast and he's changing more and more each day.

Now it's back to the real world.....time for laundry.

Yesterday was Charley's check up with the pediatrician. He did really well and currently weighs 11 lbs. 11.5 oz. and is 23 inches long. The Dr. was very happy with his progress and doesn't need to see him again for 2 months. Charley got his icky shots, but he's feeling surprisingly okay today. Only one more round of the RSV shot and then we'll be finished. with that. Also, he has been taken off his apnea monitor.....he's free!!!!! Although it's a little bit of an adjustment, it's comforting to know that since he's been home Charley has been completely free of any "real" apnea episodes. The doctor is very confident that if Charley was going to show us any signs of apnea he probably would've done it by now.

Today was the NICU follow-up clinic where Charley met with the speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist and nurse. They rate him based on his corrected age which is 2 1/2 months. Charley is doing remarkably well and is unexpectedly at the 4 month level for most of the areas, other than hand movements which he is at the expected 2 1/2 month mark. We were very happy to find out that Charley's favorite nurse, Miss Beverly was working, so we got to stop in to say hello. It was really neat to see a few of Charley's nurses from the NICU and show them how big he is!

What a great day, and it's only noon! The rest of the day we're going to run some errands and maybe, just maybe, we'll get to squeeze in a nap!

4 Months!

Happy 4 Months to our little man! He's really great and we're excited for our next doctor's appointment to find out how much he weighs! He's definitely growing because the bib overalls that were always way too big finally fit him - of course I'm sure it will be no time at all until they don't fit! We had a great weekend of complete relaxation - simply hanging out was exactly what we all needed!

Betsy flew in from Pennsylvania and got to finally meet Charley. Charley was pretty excited to have Betsy and Emily visit last Saturday. It was a great weekend and then Monday we headed to Indy to hang out with Grandma Isaacs and do a little shopping. This week our plans are to clean, clean, clean - what fun! This weekend is going to be pretty laid back, so kudos for that!

Charley's next doctor's appointment is quickly approaching (March 5th) along with the update with the NICU follow-up. This follow-up will measure where he is developmentally and check to see if he's on track with his corrected age of 2 months.

Baby It's Cold Outside

What a week it's been! We were bombarded with a foot of snow and although I'm not a fan of cold, wind and snow, the storm hasn't been too bad. We've stayed home since Tuesday, so I think we're going to head out today simply because I'm going to start climbing the walls (and we need bread!).

Charley boy has been trying so hard to find his thumb to suck; however, his motor skills aren't developed to the point where he can keep his hand to his mouth. This simply leaves Charley quite frustrated and has been waking him up every hour or so during naps and throughout the night. There's no question he will get it eventually, I just don't like the fact that he's not getting quality deep sleep. His hair has been growing and it's getting a little crazy but we love it! He is now smiling much more and I can easily cry with joy every time he looks at me and gives me the biggest grin!

10 1/2 lbs.....it's Charley! Hooray! Had a great doctor's appointment yesterday. Charley is growing at the right speed and according to the doctor he's doing quite well. He had to get his Synagis shot for RSV yesterday and so all day today he's been mr. fussy pants because he just feels achy - nothing a little cuddle time with Mommy won't fix! Who are we kidding, the next day after shots he doesn't want anything to do with anyone! All in all his appointment went well and we scheduled our next one for the beginning of March.

We got 1/2 foot of snow today - I clearly live in the wrong state because I'm not a fan! Although it looks really pretty outside our patio door (but that's only because I didn't know go anywhere today...wait until tomorrow when it needs shoveled!). Delays and cancellation wishes to all who are crossing their fingers.

Congrats to the Indianapolis Colts who beat the Bears 29-17. We had friends over to watch the big game and enjoyed food, laughs and watching good ol football! The Colts are Champions.....well deserved.
Charley had a great time celebrating and watching his first Superbowl. He must have been our lucky charm this year....he's a keeper!

Last weekend we spent some time at my parents and my Dad took some great photos of Charley. Thanks Dad! This weekend we are doing something we rarely (never) do.......waiting for Sunday night to arrive!

As you can imagine the Isaacs household is quite excited about the big game on Sunday. GO COLTS! Can't wait to make some food, get together with friends and watch what is promised to be a great game! Although I have no hard feelings about the Bears, for some reason I'm not nervous about this game; I honestly think the Colts will clearly win! Good thoughts, people....good thoughts.

Wow, he just keeps getting bigger! Charley doesn't go to the doctor again for another week, but I'm guessing he's well over 9 lbs. by now! This week has been really great - on Wednesday Charley and I spent the day visiting Gramama & Grandad and Grandma Voors. We had such a really great time! Today we are going to visit Charley's Grandma & Grandpa Isaacs and then we're heading over to celebrate Isaac's birthday - it's hard to believe he's 3! Busy busy busy, we just keep on going! 3 Months Old!

I can't believe Charley is 3 months old! He's almost 9 lbs., upgraded to 0-3 size clothing and moved from newborn diapers to size 1 - Woohoo! Last week we all spent some downtime with bad colds, but luckily we're all feeling much better. We're anxious to watch the big game this Sunday....Go Colts!

I know, I know, it's been quite sometime since our last entry. We've been having too much fun with our little guy and getting into a routine. Charley is doing really great! He's over 8 lbs. now and is more alert each day. He's a smiling fool and is truly a little man. His sleeping habits continue to improve - I'm nervous I'll jinx it if I say it, but last night he slept for 5 HOURS STRAIGHT!!! Go Charley! Last week I put in my resignation with my job, and although I'm sad to be leaving, I'm happy to have the opportunity to stay at home with Charley. I'm sure I will return to a conventional job at some time in the future to help pay the bills, but for right now I'm staying at home. We just returned from a roadtrip up north for the Voors Christmas festivities at Pokagon State Park. It was a really great weekend and I was happy people got the opportunity to meet Charley. Today we're just hanging out and running a few errands. I hope to get some organizing done around the house this week, but we'll just see how it all goes. I'm attempting to find that laid back Becky that used to exist prior to Charley's arrival. Lists.....I need more lists!

It's hard to believe that Christmas Day is just around the corner. We have been keeping ourselves busy with the everyday joys of our little guy. Luckily Mitch has a little bit of time off so it's great to spend time together. Charley continues to do really well. Last week's doctor appointment he weighed in at 6 1/2 lbs. - he becoming quite the little monster! He is such a sweetheart and is beginning to figure out his days and nights and adjusting. Charley's favorite time of the day seems to be early in the morning cuddling with me and in the early evening tucked at the corner on Mitch's lap just simply hanging out and gazing at everything he can. His smiles completely melt my heart. This is one cool kid!

Welcome Home Charley!!!!

Charley was released from the hospital and came home this past Saturday (December 2nd)!!! We are so excited to have him home. These past few days have been filled with joy, laughter, lack of sleep and lots of learning. As you can see from the photo, we were able to watch our first family Colts game on Sunday. Charley came home with an apnea monitor which eases our minds - he has had a few episodes while home, but nothing that isn't manageable. We have our first visit with his pediatrician tomorrow.
